Jake, interesting article and commentary. I agree with the writer's main premise that the health care law will have far more long lasting effects than any other results from these midterm elections. However, I also believe that President Obama made a strategically poor decision by going after health care first. If instead he had focused on his plans for energy (and thus jumpstarting the economy by creating thousands of jobs in the "green sector") I think he would have had a lot more bipartisan support. Then, with the nation feeling better about the economy, he could have gotten a lot more support and theoretically less rancor when he put forth the health care proposal.
